BabyGirl Is A Married Woman!

I have been sworn to secrecy for the past month and a half. I have been given permission to let the secret out!

MyBabyGirl got married April Fools Day. I knew beforehand it was going to happen and I knew after it happened.

After a few minutes of being hurt after I was told I wasn't being invited to my only daughter's wedding, I scolded myself. They are two adults. It is the way THEY wanted it. It is THEIR wedding and marriage.

After all, A wedding doesn't make a marriage.

She and her NewHusband did it their own way. They had two witnesses and said their vows and that was it. They did take a couple of pictures. I told her she needed to take at least one so THEY can go back and look at them from time to time!

It's similar to how Hubby and I got married! I had a whole series. Click the link if at all interested.

I was grateful and did feel special that she did tell me before!

So now I have a Son-In-Law! I don't think I've every seen BabyGirl as happy and stable as she is now. Thank you God!

And NO she is not pregnant!

I wish them years of happiness, love and respect for one another!

  2. Congrats to your daughter! We eloped too, and I'm a big fan of doing it that way! Also, good for you for keeping a secret so long!! We told everyone as soon as we got back, but it was kinda hard to keep it a secret ahead of time!

  7. Sorry you weren't able to be a part of that special time with them, but perhaps she thought she was continuing the tradition? Personally I'm not a fan of big weddings, many it seems have gotten out of hand. Destination weddings that cost people an arm and leg to attend etc. Big weddings after couples have lived together for a couple of years really annoy me. I think eloping is romantic, my folks eloped. I didn't, but had a very small wedding in the park. 50 people including hubby and I. My mother made my dress, nothing fancy, My SIL stood up with me, Mom made her dress too. My husband had a best man...that was it for pom and ceremony. Congrats to you and yours.

    1. Sandy, o need to be sorry. I'm okay now with it. No,she was not thinking of tradition. She said she didn't want any attention to herself and was afraid if they said something, as you said, it would get out of control by well-meaning people. My first marriage, I had about 100 guests..it lasted a whole 9 months lol…Yep, when Hubby and I 'eloped' it was romantic. Thanks for your support.

  9. Congratulations both on having a new son-in-law AND on not going crazy when you found out! It is all about the couple and sometimes it is made too much of by all the supporting cast instead of by the couple. We did our marriage our way, and it's lasted 42+ years. It's looking good for them!

    1. Thank you Donna! Congratulations on 42 years! Since Hubby and I married late in life, we doubt we'll live to see our 40th but that's okay. It's the quality and not the quantity.

      Thanks for dropping by!

  10. Congrats to you all! My sister recently remarried and spent a pretty big chunk on the wedding. Not so sure she would recommend it after all was said and done but now has 3 step daughters to consider as well as her own. Hind sight is 20/20 though. For my own 2 daughters, they are aware of my limited funds so small weddings are definitely in their future. lol

    1. Congrats to your sister. That's one reason I was relieved they did it that way..finanical..although I would have really liked to see her father deal with it…LOL! He could have afforded it though.

      Thanks for dropping by.

  11. YAY! Congratulations. After having two weddings, I've concluded anyone who doesn't have a wedding is smart! My second wedding was supposed to be "small" and I still remember feeling extremely stressed through the whole thing. Far better to put that money toward starting your life together and just maybe have a small dinner with family to celebrate your new marriage!

    1. I agree Stephanie. They do plan to have a little reception. I do plan to take them out whenever we can get our schedules coordinated!.

  12. Congratulations! I guess they saved money on some big ol' wedding which is something that I think people go overboard on sometimes. Though two of my daughters did have big ol' weddings that were kind of expensive. I am a fan of practical though. The cost of a wedding could be a down payment on a house!

    1. They already have a house Arlee but you are right. I know my first one was expensive and I still feel guilty putting my parents through that. It's a shame everything is so expensive though!

      Thanks for dropping by!
