Last Saturday afternoon, Hubby and I had to go to Wallyworld for the dreadful grocery shopping. We attempted to wait until the meteorologist's predicted storm to pass. The clouds came and went.
Since the day was almost over, we decided to take a chance.
As we buckled up and aimed for our destination, the clouds were looking angrier. Hubby and I weren't surprised. That's typical of La's weather. It can be raining in one spot and you turn the corner and it is sunny with no rain.
A little more than 3 miles later, we arrived at the Wallyworld parking lot. Since we had to go to both sides of Wallyword I strategized as I know how tiring it is for me. I decided it would be easier to park on the opposite side from where we usually park as we had to go to both ends of the store anyway.
I see someone getting in there car in the next aisle from where we scoping out the parking spaces for a handicapped spot. I moseyed over to the aisle. The person in the car was taking its time to move along so of course I was stopped behind other cars.
I had noticed when I stopped I was behind a grandmaish lady and a child had climbed into their SUV. I know if the lady would have looked through her side view mirror, she would see me, right?
In a matter of seconds, what seemed like slow motion, simultaneously, hubby and I saw Grandma's tail lights come on and we both reached for the horn. I couldn't move backwards because a car was behind me. Of course, we weren't fast enough and she backed into us.
We were ticked off to put it mildly. So we get out of our cars to assess the damage with expletives from Hubby.
Lady attested, "Oh, I didn't see you!" Hubby retorted that she looked through the side view mirror and looked right at him.
We made sure every one was okay. It was a mild fender bender. My passenger door was bent and paint scraped off. Her bumper was scraped.
Lady whipping out her insurance, pen and pad quipped, "Not much damage. Lets exchange information and the insurance can take care of it."
MyHubby announces, "We need to call the cops." And walks away.
I continue to stand there as Lady babbles how it is not that much damage and she couldn't believe we were calling the cops. . The soft hearted person I am was caving and went to Hubby and suggest we get the information and maybe go from their.
He wandered back to the car and inspected the damage. He reminds me he had been burned by another accident years back when he only got the information so he wanted at lease a police report.
Lady looking up to the threatening black clouds hovering persisted. "Oh, its going to take them too long and you can just call the insurance. There is not that much damage anyway"
I informed her maybe not but although it is a used vehicle, it is new to me as I haven't had it for a year.
Hubby wandered off again a few feet and called the police..
While he was on the phone, Lady continues to babble, "My granddaughter thinks I am going to jail. Last time it took the cops forever to come...." On and on she went..
WAIT! "What? "The last time?" I thought. That stirred my attention and changed my mind completely. She continued like it was an inconvenience to her.
I reminded her that SHE hit me, and it was an inconvenience to me. The cop came and wrote the report. No one was ticked because it was in a 'private' parking lot.
Monday I went get an estimate...drum..roll......
The estimate was $1084. They have to keep my car for 5 days as they have to pop out the dent and paint the two doors so I will need a rental car. Such joy! Not!
Oh and as we entered Wallyworld about 25 minutes later is when it rained but stopped by the time we were on our way home.
Welcome to my small piece of the world. This blog is about my disabled life in the Deep South.

Just A Summary
How do I tell my awesome readers what I have been up to without writing a book? Lets try a summary.
I have 5 drafts since my last post that I have done NOTHING with. I have attempted to read my favorites posts and I have had no energy or time to do so the way I would love to.
Situation with BabyGirl has changed. She and her girlfriend broke up so obviously she is not moving out of town. However, she had already told her roommate she was leaving so the roommate made other plans so now BabyGirl has no roommate. That is a whole different story about her moving.
Then just after they broke up, the inevitable happened. Someone hit BabyGIrl on her moped. The girl didn't see her but luckily BabyGirl saw her and swerve but she still got hit. She has a broken hand and re-diislocated the shoulder she had surgery on twice before the accident. She had a bruise all along her leg and lacerations. But she will live. The pic is her at discharge from ER.
Aren't the scrubs the hospital put on her just lovely?
I think this was a sign for no more Mopeds but we shall see what she decides.
The runaround with the insurance has been a fiasco. She is staying with me because she still needs some help and transportation for college. I am pretty much the only one she can depend on. Obviously she cannot work.
It's been rather stressful and exhausting with everything at once. And some decisions are up in the air. I hate not knowing what is what.
But let me tell you some awesome news. MyLove has helped me get me a MAC Air computer. If you follow me, you know how much problems I've had with computers. I researched and the Mac Air was so tempting but wasn't sure about the price.
After researching Mac and other computers and discussing it with MyLove/MyHubby (Still going through transition LOL) we decided on the Mac. I'll have to tell you a funny story another time. Why the Mac?
Well
1) It is so light and there is no movable parts.
2) I was so tired of viruses and there are virtually no probability of them.
3) I was tired of slow computers, hand me downs, etc.
4) MyLove told me I earned one and I think i deserved one.
I've been told I was going to either love it or hate it. I think once I get it all down pact I'll really love it but I am enjoying it.
It is just a different experience. It is nice to press the power and in a second the screen comes up.
It is nice that I can unplug it and go sit outside for a few hours with it; great battery life.
No more windows error messages.
So all you fellow Mac users if you have any advice or suggestions or great Apps, please share.
I hope to one day have my nice calm life back to do what I want and blog more!

Exhaustion
On our way home from the hospital I told her we would see how she felt and if need be I would bring her to college and pick her up until her doctor's appointment. I set my alarm for 7 am but neither one of us wanted to get up. I would ask, "Wanna go to school?"
She mumbled, "No." So I rolled over and went back to sleep. We did this scenario about 4 times.
At 8:30, we got up and called the doctor's office. They gave her an appointment for Wednesday and said we had to bring her x-rays. So BabyGIrl called the hospital and told them we would pick them up.
She got to go one class and I picked up her records. The hospital is a NEWLY built hospital in a new location. The journey may be another post.
That night at 10:30. That is different for her because sometimes she doesn't go to bed until early morning.. She actually went to bed without me coaxing her. I went shower and she was in the bed when I cam out. She said she didn't sleep well but I sure did!
Oh yea, that evening I received an email from IDIOT. I knew it was not good but I read it. The gist of it was that as of Jan 1st, he was dropping her health insurance but he'll keep the dental and vision. First thought is why is he telling me this. She never got an email. I never responded or acknowledged. He never responded to mine.
Tuesday, we did the college thing. We did absolutely nothing that evening I was relieved. We went to bed around 10:30-11. I kept dreaming of her wreck as if I was there.
Wednesday, we went to the doctor. When the nurse called her name and we were walking down the hall, the staff jokingly said, "No! Not again! Everyone was oohing and ahhing. I was getting pretty tired of hearing this sorta thing. Maybe details another post.
Doc said nothing ruptured etc. She needs to do her exercises as they gave her a choice of PT or do them herself. She knows what they are. The nurse said she doesn't see any reason why she can't drive. He told her to use the sling for six weeks. Gave her a go for normal activities.
We went get her moped and she is on the road again. "SIGH" However, she has promised me and her father that she was only going to go to school and work. No highways.
She sorta threw at me what i used to tell her. You fall, get up and go again. Please extend your prayer list to my daughter indefinitely.
I am now tired and worried. This apartment is sorta quiet now. MyLove is returning home tonight and I have him until Monday YAY!
Her BFF wrote her this when she heard. "You don't just need a bubble. You need a helmet, full body padding (like a space suit but full of padding) and then you need an emergency ejection with a parachute attached with a mattress following you. Then you need a bubble."
I love her! LOL!

Part II: Moped Throws Baby Girl Off
Just one of her BooBoos on her hip!
You came back to see the continuation! I am crazily happy! If you wanna get caught up you can read Moped Throws BabyGIrl Off!
When Idiot and his Wife arrived which was only a few minutes after me, so they probably zoomed as fast as I did.
They entered the ER room and the Wife immediately went up to BabyGirl with worry on her face Wife hugged her and asked if she was okay. The Idiot, I think his first words were, "And you had shorts." I may be blurry about that one but that was it. He stood next to me and never said hello or even go to hell. I do not claim what he was thinking as he stared. But from history, he was thinking of the doctor bills she just incurred on him.
After it was unchallenged that I was taking her home with me, I asked what we were gonna do about the moped. I don't know if it was shock or not hearing me or what. No one answered. I asked again and Wife looks at him and they were talking to each other. It was like, "Hello??"
She looked at me and said, "I don't know." Turns to him and echoed my question. I tend to forget he is hard of hearing sometimes with everyone talking or a lot of noise. (Really he is, not a joke) For some reason people who don't know me can't understand me when I speak at first. However, he knows me but the dollar signs were probably reeling.
He responded, "I don't know." It is like he didn't want to deal with it or something. So the impatient person I am, said, "Well if you don't do anything, I'll call my dad in the morning to ask him to get her Moped with his trailer."
It clicked for Wife. They discussed him bringing his trailer to pick up the moped. Finally they said he would go get the moped in the morning in which he did. However, he couldn't bring it to BABYGIRL's apartment because the trailer wouldn't fit in the narrow alley you have to drive through so he brought it to his house.
I have another option he could have used but I will give him credit for doing that and won't say anything else about it at this time. The moped is safe and that is all that counts.

MOPED THROWS BABYGIRL OFF
Sunday night, around 10:30 pm after turning into my jammies I was putting my phone on vibrate when my phone rang. I see BabyGirl's girlfriend's number and name on my phone. My heart dropped. I answer. I'll call BabyGirl's Girlfriend "K". The first thing she said was "Layla is okay but she is in ER." or something like that. I can't remember the exact words. So she proceeded to tell me that she dislocated the same shoulder she has had surgery on and she is okay. After getting a few details Layla got on the phone crying. I told her I was coming.
She said, "You don't have to." I said, "Yes I do." Like I won't go..Are you serious?
So I dressed and got into my car driving down Evangeline Thruway to I-10 and then to Ambassador Caffery. Thank God I caught most green lights and there wasn't traffic! My mind was reeling with alot of thoughts! I couldn't panic I kept saying to myself.
I finally got to OLOL ER and they directed me to BabyGirl. She was sitting up in the bed with her finger pulse hooked up and her arm in a sling her face red and teary. "K" was sitting at the bedside talking calmly to her.
BabyGirl explained to me that being careful she put her brakes on too fast at the corner of Hwy 90 and Ambassador Caffery and the moped slid out from under her. A friendly Honduras man saw her and stopped. I wish she would have gotten that man's name so I could personally thank him. She called 911 as she was in pain. The cop and ambulance arrived and they transported her to the hospital.
Luckily the cop was in a good mood and didn't ticket her. He put the Moped in a parking lot of a business and tagged it.
As she was telling me Idiot and his wife arrived. "GROAN"
Doc came in and explained her arm was dislocated, they sedated her to pop it back in. They had done an x-ray. The ER doc told her to see her orthopedic doctor and gave her a prescription painkiller.
(Or maybe the doc came in then her father..It's blurry)
As we waited for discharge the discussion was where are you going. "K" said she could go back to the apartment and stay with her because roomie was away. Regardless, I took control and said, "She is coming home with me." I told her "You are coming with me"
I don't recall any objections except hers. Hers didn't matter at that point. She was in no shape to argue.
She will heal. As I said her arm is in sling, or maybe I didn't. She has scrapes and bruises many places. The only thing that has been bothering her is her neck. I have been massaging the knots.
I've been bringing her back and forth to college. Even went to her Stat Psych study group last night and it was boring but analzying the kids were interesting though!
I made her miss work Monday and today. She didn't need to be working without doctor's permission and her arm in sling although she has done it before. I found it was just too much emotional crap that went on and she shouldn't be there. She cried and whined saying she needed the money. I can understand that but still no do! We did got to her workplace and talked to a manager. She seemed to be understanding. Tough Luck if not.
I am bringing her to the doctor tomorrow morning.
.
Stay tuned if you dare to see what conversation Idiot and I had (Which was hardly any) and the rest of the story :).

Collision
Ah yes! In 14 hours I am off to my mini-vacation with MyLove. It is so needed! I was so depressed Wednesday. I went back to my Facebook status that day and noticed only two answered. Maybe because I said I didn't want to hear God is good, blah blah blah.
I felt so defeated. Let me tell you why.
My BabyGirl was following her girlfriend to bring their cars to stay at the girlfriend's aunt's house since they will be in Mississippi the rest of the month. It had just rained. I don't know what happened but My Babygirl told me that the girl in front of her girlfriend put on her brakes suddenly, in which made the girlfriend put on the brakes. Well my Babygirl didn't put on the brakes fast enough and reared ended her girlfriend's car which led to the domino effect of the girlfriend hitting the girl in front.
Luckily, no one was hurt. The only car that was damaged was My BabyGirl's and the damage is more than what the car is worth. And she was the only one who got a ticket.
It wouldn't be so bad if this wasn't her first wreck. She's totaled two cars in 2 years plus a few mishaps along the way. I helped her buy that car.
We don't know what we are going to do. MyLove says, there shouldn't be no "we". She wanted to be an adult, she needs to figure out the resolution.. He is right But then again, she is MY BabyGirl.
I told her to go to MS as planned, think about a resolution but don't dwell on it. I encouraged her to enjoy the experience and maybe she'll have a better perspective when she returns. Maybe I will too.
Oh did I tell ya'll my Babygirl was invited to a Soroity for academic success. I'm just so damn proud of her!

Neighbors Move With a Bang
We found out the assissine neighbors are moving to another apartment around the corner which is fine with me. As long as they are not playing near my car or stomping on the stairs etc, I'm good. They better stay on their end.
We have witnessed the older grandson, which is about 12 years old, repeatedly getting in the car driving around the complex or drive back and forth into a parking space. Evidently he was given the keys. The first day his grandmother moved in we saw him driving. The dimwit grandparent and parents evidently knew because he would honk the horn with his little brother riding inside.
MyLove and I kept telling each other one day he was going to get into an accident. We were afraid he was going to go over the sidewalk into our living room.
Today, I guess he was trying to back up into a space across the street, However, when he turned to get straight before he put the car reverse he drove down a deep dip from the parking lot to a culvert . Yes folks! He went into the ditch! There is a fence he barely missed and a tree by inches.
We knew it was going to happen wondering if someone was going to be harmed in the process. Our maintenance men with a twin cab big ass truck attempted to pull the car out but it was going to ruin the bottom of the car so they left.
The dimwit father finally arrived and stupidly tried getting it out but his wheels just swirled causing mud and leaves flying. An hour and a half later a tow truck arrives and he couldn't just pull it just like that without taking the bottom of the car out. So he made a telephone call. As they waited, the two trucker was asking the boy questions and after he sat down and never moved. Not moving is amazing in itself! LOL!
Maintenance men returned with a circular saw and plywood. They put the plywood under the car and finally got it out. The father signed the receipt.
So my question is will he get any reprimands for this? I seriously doubt it, the adults are just totally stupid. Did he learn a lesson? I doubt it. He is one of those smart ass kids that thinks he is all that. MyLove says he can picture him in a gang or in juvie by the time he is 18. I tend to believe he is right!
