Mother's Day

I hope everyone had a nice weekend and loving Mother's Day.

My weekend was busier than usual. Saturday night, Hubby and I went to Mass with my parents at the church I went to when I was a child. I saw a few aunts, uncles and other people.

After Mass we treated my parents to supper at El Chili Verdi to show them a little appreciation of them lending the lawnmower, which broke while we were using it. They had to drive 45 miles one way to bring it to us and then go back home. Two weeks later they had to come get it and bring it to the shop. We don't have a truck or trailer. My parents are not young but they continue to do all they can do.

On Mother's Day we went to my sister's. My brother-in-law cooked some burgers, delicious as usual. The whole family was there. It's a rarity because some work offshore and it is hard to get us all together.

Me and BabyGirl. Can You see the Love?

I took a lot of other pictures but I didn't want to bombard you with all of them!

I hope to see your Mother's Day pictures!

Until next time…

Mothers Day

It is so ironic that alot of mothers are stressing about what needs to be done for Mother's Day.  I thought Mother's Day was supposed to honor Mothers and give them a day of rest and dedication? Or at least a cooked meal that we don't have to bother with.

It can get sticky if you have multiple mothers in your family. For Example: There is My Sister, her mother-in-law and about 7 mothers in my brother in laws family. My sister also has a daughter in law and a daughter who are both mothers. Then there is my mom, Hubby's mom and one sister in-law on Hubby's family. And last but not least me.

It is usually at my Sister's house on my side of the family. She usually has her mother in law and maybe one or two of her brother/sister-in-laws) and have boiled crawfish or my brother in law barbecues.

By the way my brother-in-law makes some of the best BBQ ever.

For Hubby's mom, we usually take her eat out because our little apartment we were in was just too small to entertain.

My family (Mom, dad, daughter, sister and her family) use to go to Piccadilly and we all paid our own way. But Piccadilly is closed where most of them live and I doubt if they wanna drive all the way where I am.  Besides sometimes we just want to be in a private place to relax and be ourselves.

My sister called and said they were barbecuing and all of my brother in law's family will be there as well as mine, a total of 25 people.  I couldn't see her doing all of the sides so I asked her what to bring. I'm bringing my infamous potato salad. It's time consuming but I don't mind. She has a few others bringing other food. But you know its mostly mothers who will be doing the preparing.

I'm hoping as soon as we get furniture or at least the living room cleaned out I can take some of the stress off my sister for days like these. I think it would be cool to have my family and Hubby's family get together as they haven't met each other yet.

I remember my daughter was working on Mother's Day so she and I would go eat somewhere during the week. She also has her stepmother but we've had that worked out well. It's sorta understood that Mother's Day my daughter is mine. And Father's Day she is her father's. It is only fair right? LOL!

So what how does it work for all you mothers out there? Do you end up doing most of the work?

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all of the Mothers and Dads who are acting as Mothers as always.

AS A DAUGHTER

My MOM is a wonderful giving person.
She is a strong woman who endured criticism from neighbors about how 'cruel' she was to me. They found out later it was LOVE because if she hadn't made me as independent I would not be where I am now.
She is the one who cried to doctors and listening when they said to raise me from her intuition.
She was the one who spent endless hours at the school board office to see the superintendent and persuaded them to let me try "Normal" public school.
She is the one who went cry and pray in the bathroom when I fell in my braces because it broke her heart but she knew that's what she had to do. I did get up on my own.
She fought for me in everything.
She spent endless hours with me at the hospital.
I know I can go to her for much of anything.
She brings me joy and laughter in my life.
She is ALWAYS there for me whether to lend an ear, shoulder or bring me to a doctor.
She always puts everyone first except herself.
She allowed me to make mistakes so I could learn for myself, although it nearly killed her to see me in situations.
I love her with all my heart.
I may have been a SPECIAL NEEDS Daughter but I have a UTMOST SPECIAL MOM!

As A MOTHER

In 1992, I became the mother of my only child, Layla.
She was 18" long and 6.5 lbs.
She was my rock for a very long time but I had to let her go some. But when it comes down to it, I fight for life because of her.
She is loving, giving and smart. sweet, independent and adorable.
I am so proud of her because she has always went for what she wanted.
We've had rough times but I truly believe we both learned from it and we're closer than ever.
My goal was to raise her to be a productive adult and I think I succeeded but it was not only my journey, it was hers. She did the hard work as I only guided her.
She kept me going and I proved to myself that my disability was not a obstacle in having a child.
She is so very special and stood up for me although she wouldn't stand up for herself.
I love her so much.
I couldn't ask for a better daughter than Layla.
I love you Layla Ruth.

MY SISTER
She is the mother of two great children.
It's been a honor and pleasure to have her as MY only sister.
She trusted me when we were younger with all her secrets and I could trust her.
She was the one who brought me potato chips from school.
She was the one who played with her friends by the window so I can watch when I was bed bound.
She was the one who put up with not only a pesky little sister but with a special needs sister who took most of her mother's time  with no resentment.
She took my child as her own for a few months when I was sick in the hospital when Layla was born.
I know she is always there for me and I hope she knows I am always there for her.
God has blessed me with one sister and I am happy with the one.
I love you Melanie!
