Insecure Writer's Support Group: Insecurity

I signed up with Insecure Writer's Group's monthly post. Every other Wednesday, I will share my own thoughts and experiences about my writing. In the process I hope to get feedback to make me a better writer and hopefully help others.

I have so many writing insecurities. One of them is I sometimes feel like I don't have anything to write about. When I am in that mode, I tend to not write and go months without writing. I used to write my anger, frustrations and negativity in my life.  I'm trying to focus on the good and attempt to write about the negativity in a different way.

There is an irony in the inability to find something to write about. I write the old fashioned way in a daily journal that I do not post on my blog. It is sometimes very personal I rather not share to the whole world.

One of my triumphs as you probably know by now is I finished the Blogging A2Z Challenge. I am so proud I wanna burst!

One problem that has been plaguing my brain is keeping track of comments I write on other blogs. My brain forgets who and when I comment on something. I have this fear that they responded and I have no clue. If I click notify me by mail I get ALL comments that can fill up my email very quickly. If anyone has any suggestions, please do share.

Until next time…

  1. I can't keep track of all my comments either. If it's a blog I follow regularly, the next time I'm there I'll just go back to previous posts and see if I said/missed anything, and to see if there's any follow-up replies.

And I find anything I'm really passionate about, I will just stay on the comment page and keep hitting "refresh" obsessively.

    1. I do the same in regards of following a blog regularly. Once I refreshed to see if the blogger would comment immediately, but it didn't work for me lol

  2. Do you keep a journal? I write in mine when I'm stuck. I also read. Reading inspires me. Just finished Winter's Bones for the 3rd time, by Daniel Woodrell. Brilliant proses.

    1. Yes, I keep a journal Joylene every day. I read a lot too. I seldom read a book twice but I'll have to check it out. Thank you!

  3. My suggestion is not to worry too much about the comments. Maybe I don't worry enough. I used to, but it got a little too overwhelming. Depending on what you write, it might be helpful to go out somewhere and write about your observations or whatever memory or story or poem the observation triggers.

    1. I don't worry about comments on my blog, although they ARE nice. But when I comment on another and knowing the possibility they may respond back expecting an answer is when i worry. Thanks for your suggestion. What's crazy is when I lay in bed before i fall asleep I can think of a few topics but I forget them the next day. I know I should have a pen and paper on the bedside but its difficult to write in bitch black lol

  4. Some things don't need to be shared with the world.
Congratulations on finishing the Challenge! Hope you had fun.
I visit over a hundred blogs a day and I often don't get to go back to those posts. Sorry I can't help you there.
Welcome to the IWSG though. The first Wednesday of every month, you have a group of people who care.
